How install day works

A standard Halo 5 install in a Pittsburgh home takes about four hours. We shut off the main, cut in upstream of the water heater, plumb the bypass loop, set the drain line, and run the unit through its first regeneration cycle before we leave. You get a free water retest two weeks after install so we can confirm the system is dialed in.

The cabinet wants a 110V outlet within 6 feet and a drain within 10 feet. Most basements in the South Hills and North Hills have that already. If yours does not, our techs handle the small electrical and drain work the same day.

Halo 5 vs. the alternatives

vs. a traditional salt softener. A softener will give you the slipperiest “soft water” feel. The Halo 5 prevents scale without removing the minerals, which keeps your water tasting like water and avoids adding sodium. vs. the Halo Ion. The Halo Ion is a smaller, simpler, magnetic-only unit. It handles scale prevention but does not filter chlorine, sediment, or heavy metals. Pick Ion if scale is the only problem. Pick the 5 if there is more than one thing going on.

vs. Flow-Tech. Flow-Tech is also scale-only, electromagnetic, no filter. Same trade-off as the Ion.

vs. Nuvo Plus Taste. The Nuvo Plus Taste is a smaller-footprint salt-free unit with a carbon filter. Less aggressive on heavy metals than the Halo 5, but it costs less and fits where the Halo 5 will not.
