Meet the family behind Pittsburgh’s whole-home service team.
Wahl started with one young HVAC tradesman, one Beechview basement, and one promise to take great care of the customer. More than 45 years later, David and Jennifer Wahl lead heating, cooling, plumbing, sewer, water, and remodeling teams from Oakdale, and the family is still in the building every day.
A family company, built one home at a time.
John Wahl started the company at 19 from his mother’s basement in Beechview. His mother Lorraine handled the books, Sharon helped build the company beside him, and the next generation grew up learning that your name only means something when your work backs it up.
Today David and Jennifer own 98 percent of Wahl and lead the business together. John remains the founder and trusted advisor, while family and long-time leaders keep the operation connected from the first phone call to the final walkthrough.
- Family-owned and locally led since 1980.
- Heating, cooling, plumbing, sewers, water treatment, and remodeling under one roof.
- Real training, modern systems, and leaders who are present in the business.
- One standard for every customer, every home, and every person wearing the Wahl name.
The two operators accountable for Team Wahl today.
David and Jennifer share ownership, direction, and responsibility for the company. Their strengths are different by design, and customers benefit from both.
Chief Executive Officer, Co-owner, Master Plumber
David Wahl
David grew up beside his father on Wahl jobsites and officially began working for Wahl Heating in 2006. He later worked for national and local competitors, completed apprenticeship hours, and attended trade school at night. That path gave him a view of the home-service industry from the truck, the classroom, and the management office.
He advanced from helper to lead installer, service technician, install manager, partner, and CEO, earning his Master Plumber license in 2019. David trained through Nexstar Network, Praxis S-10, Ultimate Tech Academy, manufacturer programs, and years of field experience. He built plumbing, excavation, water treatment, bathroom remodeling, and whole-home services onto the HVAC company John founded, then purchased majority ownership with Jennifer in 2023.

- Nexstar, Praxis S-10, Ultimate Tech, and ongoing technical training
President and Co-owner
Jennifer Wahl
Jennifer joined Wahl in 2006 and helped carry the company through one of its most important chapters. She began in general management, learned the business from the phones and schedule outward, and helped stabilize the company while building stronger service, client care, and sales systems.
She holds a bachelor's degree in communications and a teaching degree. That combination shows up in the way she develops people, explains expectations, and turns complicated customer situations into clear next steps. Today Jennifer is President and 49 percent owner, with direct oversight of sales, client care, and service operations.

One family standard. David leads vision, growth, trades, and whole-home capability. Jennifer leads people, communication, sales, client care, and service operations.
Built in the field. Strengthened through education.
David’s education came through jobsites, apprenticeship hours, trade school, licensing, management roles, and national home-service training. Jennifer brought formal education in communications and teaching, then applied it to nearly two decades of real operating experience inside Wahl.
Together, they understand both sides of a service company: the technical work that must be right inside the home, and the communication, coaching, scheduling, and follow-through that determine whether the customer feels cared for.
“Keep the faith, keep the vision, keep pushing forward.”
The people who built the legacy
The company has changed in size and capability. The family commitment behind it has not.
Founder and Brand Ambassador
John Wahl
John founded Wahl in 1980 at 19 years old, working from his mother's basement in Beechview after learning the HVAC trade from his uncles. Referrals started with neighbors and customers from his father's barber shop, then grew one well-served home at a time. Over more than four decades, John built a respected Pittsburgh HVAC company and a family name customers could trust. He remains a trusted advisor, customer ambassador, and keeper of the standard that started it all.
Co-founder, Accounting and Advisor
Sharon Wahl
Sharon joined the business in 1986 and helped turn John's trade into a true family company. Alongside John's mother, Lorraine, she helped answer calls, keep the books, support customers, and build the office behind the field operation. Her decades of accounting knowledge and company history still support the next generation as an advisor and family historian.
Dispatch Supervisor
Maggie Wahl
Maggie joined the company in 2008 and has helped lead dispatch and daily operations through years of growth. She keeps customers informed, technicians moving, and the office connected to the field from the first call through the final update. Her working knowledge of the team and service area makes her one of the company's central operating anchors.
Leaders who make the day work
These are the people connecting the field, the office, the schedule, the facility, and the customer experience.
Sales Manager
Don Belczyk
Don brings more than a decade of HVAC and home-service sales and operations experience to Team Wahl. His background includes coordinating HVAC service teams, residential replacement sales, dispatch, project management, customer relationships, CRM systems, and technician coaching.
Before joining Wahl in 2026, Don served in leadership roles across HVAC, plumbing, electrical, restoration, and related home services. He has managed sales teams, trained field professionals, coordinated technicians, and owned a service business. At Wahl, he leads the sales team and owns the process of helping homeowners understand their options and make a confident decision.
Service Manager
Patrick Zebroski
Patrick leads the service team as a field-connected player-coach. He develops technicians, protects the quality of the work, and makes sure customers receive clear options and a professional experience. His job is to keep technical standards high while helping technicians grow into trusted professionals.
Executive Assistant and Human Resources
Sheri Garofalo
Sheri supports David and Jennifer, coordinates executive schedules, helps lead human resources, and keeps the daily management rhythm moving. She is a central connection point across the office and field teams, helping the company stay organized as departments and responsibilities continue to grow.
Operations Manager and Facility Leader
Rich Michaels
Rich brought 26 years of experience owning and operating a construction company to Team Wahl. That background made him a natural fit for a role that touches installation, project management, facilities, fleet, safety, warehouse systems, vendor coordination, and field support.
Today Rich leads daily crew scheduling, install capacity, the Oakdale facility, and fleet operations. He continues his technical and management development through Praxis training and industry certifications. His work makes sure the right people, skills, equipment, and materials come together before the trucks roll.
Departments that work together, not around each other.
Wahl is structured so a Pittsburgh homeowner does not have to coordinate five separate contractors. Service, installation, plumbing, sewers, water quality, and remodeling leaders work from the same Oakdale operation.

David and Team Wahl have invested in trade school, licensing, manufacturer education, technical academies, management coaching, and hands-on practice. The Oakdale training center lets technicians learn on real equipment before they work in a customer’s home.
That commitment includes programs and networks such as Nexstar, Praxis S-10, Ultimate Tech Academy, ServiceTitan, manufacturer training, safety instruction, and continuing trade education. See more of our certifications and professional partnerships.
