RGF makes the REME HALO, a whole-home in-duct air purifier that mounts in your supply plenum and treats the air in every room the system serves. Here is why it stopped sounding like magic once we understood it. Bipolar ionizers send out molecules carrying both a negative and a positive charge. Dust particles in the air stick to them, get heavy, and fall out of the air, where your media filter traps them like it should. The payoff is something you can literally see: when the sun comes through the window, you stop seeing all that dust floating in the beam.
The second mechanism is ionized hydrogen peroxide with zinc, released into the airstream, which reduces bacteria and viruses in the air and on surfaces. The third is odor and VOC control, which is the part customers notice fastest. Cooking smells, smoke, and paint smells drop off noticeably.
We are equally honest about where UV fits, because there is a lot of confusion here. A UV light above the air conditioning coil will keep that coil disinfected and mold-free, and that is a real benefit. But the REME HALO is the next generation of that technology. It has a UV bulb inside it, and that UV is used to activate a catalyst. The UV itself is not what is sanitizing your air. So UV at the coil is a good supplemental piece, and the HALO is where we would put a homeowner’s first dollar.

Coil-mounted germicidal UV to keep the evaporator coil clean and mold-free. A supplemental piece, not a replacement for in-duct purification.
Cell replacement and service
The purification cell is a wear item on a multi-year interval. We track it, tell you when it is due, and replace it rather than letting the unit quietly stop working.
How we actually deploy it.
Paired with a media cabinet, always
The HALO makes particles clump and fall. Something has to catch them. Run a REME HALO with an Aprilaire media cabinet and you have a system. Run the HALO alone into a one inch filter and you have wasted half of what you paid for.
Placement matters
It goes in the supply plenum, downstream of the coil, with the right clearance and the right electrical feed. Installed in the wrong spot it underperforms and you would never know why.
We tell you what it will not do
It is not a replacement for fixing a moisture problem, a duct leak pulling air from a crawlspace, or a bathroom with no exhaust fan. If the actual cause of your air quality complaint is somewhere else, we will chase that first.

REME HALO or a UV light, which should I get?
They do different jobs. A UV light above the coil keeps the coil clean and mold-free, which is worthwhile but local to the coil. The REME HALO treats the air moving through the whole house. The HALO does contain a UV bulb, but it uses it to activate a catalyst rather than to sanitize the air directly. If you are choosing one first, we recommend the HALO.
What is the difference between the REME HALO and the HALO LED?
The LED version uses an LED source instead of a mercury lamp, with a longer interval before the cell needs replacement. For most new installations it is what we recommend.
Does it need maintenance?
Yes. The purification cell is a wear item and needs replacing on a multi-year interval depending on the model. We track it on your account and tell you when it is due, because a HALO with a spent cell is just a box in your ductwork.
Will it help with allergies, pets, or cooking smells?
Odors and VOCs are where people notice the fastest change, including cooking, smoke, and paint. For allergies and pet dander, the HALO plus a MERV 13 media cabinet is the combination we recommend, because you need something to trap what the HALO drops out of the air.
