What we install

Mitsubishi makes a deep residential lineup. The right configuration depends on the rooms you’re conditioning, your budget, and how the home is built. Wahl installs all of it.

We present exact pricing in your home after a free in-home estimate. Tiers below show relative investment, not real numbers.

Single-zone systems. One outdoor unit, one indoor head. The right call for a single addition, a sunroom, a converted attic, a master bedroom, or a garage conversion. Sizes range from 6,000 BTU (small bedroom) to 36,000 BTU (large open space). Entry tier ($$).

Multi-zone systems, two to four heads. One outdoor unit feeding two, three, or four indoor heads. Common configurations: master bedroom plus a finished attic, three bedrooms on a second floor with no ductwork, a first floor open plan plus two upstairs rooms. Mid tier ($$$).

Multi-zone systems, five to eight heads. One outdoor unit, five to eight heads. Used as the primary HVAC system in whole-home applications, or in larger custom homes where central ducted doesn’t fit the layout. Upper tier ($$$$).

Hyper-Heat cold-climate units. Mitsubishi’s H2i Hyper-Heat line delivers full rated heating capacity down to 5 degrees Fahrenheit and continues working to negative 13. This is the line we install when the mini split is the primary heat source in a Pittsburgh winter, not just supplemental.

Head styles, because aesthetics matter

The wall-mount head is the most common, but it isn’t the only choice. Mitsubishi makes:

• Wall-mount heads. The classic. Slim, white, mounted high on a wall. Quietest fan, lowest cost, easiest install.
• Ceiling cassettes. Recessed into a drop ceiling or attic space. Only the four-way grille is visible. Distributes air evenly in all four directions.
• Concealed ducted heads. Tucked into a soffit or short duct run. Zero visible head, just a vent grille. The “did you even install a mini split?” option. See our ducted ductless page for more.
• Floor-mount heads. Sit at the bottom of a wall like an old-school radiator. Great for finished basements, sunrooms with low windows, and bedrooms where wall space is taken.
• One-way ceiling cassettes. For tight ceiling cavities. Less common, useful when the four-way won’t fit.

Our installer walks the home with you and matches the head style to each room before we quote. The choice affects price, but more importantly it affects how the room feels and looks for the next twenty years.

The Diamond Elite difference

You can buy a Mitsubishi mini split from a lot of contractors. You can only get a Mitsubishi mini split installed by a Diamond Elite dealer from a handful of them. The four things you get from us that you don’t get elsewhere:

Extended warranty (up to 12 years parts and compressor). Standard Mitsubishi warranty is 5 to 7 years. Diamond Elite dealers can register your install for the 12-year extended warranty at no extra charge.

Factory-certified installers. Mitsubishi sends our installers to factory training in line-set sizing, brazing, evacuation, refrigerant charging, and commissioning. A high-efficiency inverter unit lives or dies on the install. We do it the way Mitsubishi designed it.

Direct factory support. Warranty claims, technical questions, parts authorizations. Diamond Elite dealers go to a separate support line. You won’t wait three weeks for a part.

Equipment allocation. When equipment supply tightens (as it did in 2021-2022 and still does on certain models), Diamond Elite dealers get priority. We rarely tell a customer “back-ordered” on the residential side.

How the install actually goes

Day one in most cases. Multi-zone or whole-home jobs run two to three days.

1. Walkthrough. Our installer measures each room, picks head locations with you, plans the line-set route, and locates the outdoor unit. This conversation often happens at the original sales visit.
2. Outdoor unit goes in. Pad or wall bracket, code-clearance from windows and doors, condensate routing.
3. Indoor heads go in. Hole through the wall, mounting plate, line-set and condensate routed cleanly. Inside walls get small refrigerant line covers; exterior runs get either a paintable line-set cover or a hidden chase.
4. Electrical. Dedicated circuit pulled from the panel to the outdoor unit. Our crew handles this in-house on most jobs.
5. Evacuation and charging. Hours of vacuum, then a precise factory-spec refrigerant charge. The single most-skipped step on bad installs, and the single most-important step for system life.
6. Commissioning. Every head started, every temperature setpoint tested, every remote paired. We hand you the controllers and walk you through them in person.
7. Cleanup and permit close-out. Allegheny County and the City of Pittsburgh require a mechanical permit on new system installs. We pull it, we close it, you don’t lift a finger.
