What our customers say about Wahl
More than 1,522 five-star reviews on Google, a 4.8 rating, and an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau. This page displays our Google reviews, and the link to our Google Business Profile takes you to all of them at the source. Below that is what we do on every call to earn them, and what happens when we get a job wrong.
The numbers, and the one that matters most
More than 1,522 five-star reviews on Google. A 4.8 overall rating. An A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau. For a family company that has been working in Pittsburgh homes since 1980, that is a stack of neighbors vouching for us, one job at a time.
The number we pay the most attention to is the 4.8, not the 1,522. A 4.8 means we did not get it right every single time. Nobody works in this many Pittsburgh homes without a bad day somewhere in there, and a rating that never moved would not tell you much anyway.
Volume matters too, and here is why. Ten glowing reviews tell you almost nothing. More than a thousand of them, spread across furnaces, heat pumps, water heaters, drain lines, repipes, sewer digs and bathroom remodels, in old Pittsburgh houses with tight basements and hillside lots, tells you a company has run into most of the ways a job can go sideways and kept its rating anyway.
Read them here or read them all on Google
The reviews on this page come from our Google Business Profile. Google itself is where the complete set lives, along with the current count, the current rating, and the newest ones posted this week. The link to our profile is right there, so you can read every one of them at the source.
One suggestion for reading reviews on Google, ours included. Start with the last few months, because recency tells you who a company is right now. Then find a low rated review and read the reply underneath it. How a company answers the customer it let down says more than the average does.
The five things every technician is measured on
We call it the Wahl of Excellence. It is painted on the warehouse wall, and it is the same five behaviors whether you are a first year apprentice or a master plumber: professional excellence, empathy first, rapid responsiveness, done today, and operational awareness.
None of it is complicated. Listen before talking about equipment, answer the phone, finish it on this visit when the parts and the situation allow, look at the whole house instead of the one broken thing, and leave work behind that holds up. When a review goes well, it is almost always because all five happened in one visit.
What happens between the phone call and the review
Most of what shows up in a review was decided before anyone touched a tool. Here is the shape of a normal Wahl visit, from the call to the cleanup.
That sequence is why so many reviews mention feeling like they understood what they were buying. Understanding the choice is most of the experience.
- The person who answers our phone works in our Oakdale office and can see the schedule while you are talking.
- The technician asks about the house before diagnosing. How old the system is, what the house does in January, which rooms never get comfortable, whether this has happened before.
- You get choices, not a single number. On most jobs the technician lays out several ways to solve it, from the straight repair to the full rebuild, side by side, with what each one does and does not cover.
- Everything is flat rate. You get the price in writing before the work starts.
- You decide, then work begins. Nothing gets replaced because it was already on the truck.
- The space gets cleaned up and the old equipment goes with us.
What happens when we get it wrong
We are 55 people and more than 40 trucks working out of an 87,000 square foot facility on six acres in Oakdale. At that size, on a hard week in January, something is going to go wrong somewhere. A part comes in defective. A schedule slips. Somebody has a bad day in your kitchen.
Call the office and ask for a manager. Not a message into a portal, not a form. A person. We would much rather hear it from you first than read it on Google, because on the phone we can still fix it and on Google all we can do is apologize in public.
Internally, a critical review gets read by the manager over that department and by the owners. If it points at one visit, we deal with that visit. If the same complaint shows up three times, it is not a bad day, it is something in our process, and that is the more useful kind of review to get. If something we installed is not performing the way we said it would, that is a conversation, not a fight.
Who we are and what we hold
Family owned in Pittsburgh since 1980, now run by the next generation. 55 team members, more than 40 trucks, an 87,000 square foot facility on six acres in Oakdale. Licensed and insured, master plumber on staff, PA HIC #PA022302. A+ with the Better Business Bureau, 1,522 five-star Google reviews at a 4.8 rating.
We are a Rheem Pro Partner, a Mitsubishi Diamond Elite contractor, a Bosch cold climate dealer and a Trane dealer, and we install Aprilaire, RGF REME HALO, NuCalgon iWave, Weil-McLain and IBC. Those certifications are worth checking on any company you are considering, because each one carries factory training and manufacturer backing behind the equipment being installed.
If we have been to your house, tell us how it went
If a Wahl truck has been in your driveway, we would be grateful for a review on Google. The five-star ones mean a lot to our technicians, who read them and take real pride in seeing their own names. The critical ones are worth more to us, because they point at something we can go fix on Monday morning.
And if you have not called us yet, that is fine too. Read what the neighbors wrote, then call us when you need us. We are here 24/7 for heating, cooling and plumbing emergencies. Reach us at (412) 276-9245.

Questions, answered
How many reviews does Wahl have?
More than 1,522 five-star reviews on Google, with a 4.8 overall rating, plus an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau. The count and the rating move as new reviews come in, so our Google Business Profile always has the current number.
Why is the rating 4.8 and not 5.0?
Because we have missed. Across all the homes we work in around Pittsburgh, somebody eventually has a bad experience with us, and it shows up in the average. What we care about is that the pattern in the low reviews gets fixed rather than hidden.
Where do the reviews on this page come from?
Our Google Business Profile. The names, dates and star ratings come from Google rather than from us. To read the full set, open our profile on Google using the link on this page.
I had a bad experience. What should I do?
Call the office at (412) 276-9245 and ask for a manager. A phone call gets you to a person who can do something about it. We would far rather hear it from you directly than read it online, because on the phone the problem can still be solved.
Is Wahl licensed and insured?
Yes. We are licensed and insured, we have a master plumber on staff, and we carry PA HIC #PA022302. We are also a Rheem Pro Partner, a Mitsubishi Diamond Elite contractor, a Bosch cold climate dealer and a Trane dealer, and a PRAXIS S-10 member company.
Will I know the price before work starts?
Yes. Every job is priced flat rate and put in writing, so you see the number and choose your option before anyone picks up a tool.
